Audit on the lounge

Tesla / Musk: NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation opened Open Audit Query AQ26002 on about 1,000 Cybercabs, same day as the Austin commercial start. They're reviewing the process and data Tesla used to self-certify FMVSS compliance for a vehicle with no permanently attached steering wheel, pedals, or mirrors — including whether Tesla treated some standards as inapplicable. Texas records show about 45 Cybercabs among about 420 autonomous Teslas registered there. Audit isn't a shutdown, but it's fresh federal heat on the no-controls design. Public Robotaxi-app rides still aimed for tonight around 5pm CT. Shares sold the news, about 4% off in Friday talk after the quiet invite-only night.

OpenAI / Altman: after Thursday's Daybreak-first ship, Altman overnight said "sorry for the messy rollout," with broad ChatGPT/API access "in the near future," Pro first. Hopeful for this weekend, "can't promise yet." Codex lead Tibo: one banked reset per day without Astra on paid ChatGPT, stacking from Thursday. Paid users still waiting Friday; Daybreak defenders remain first. OpenAI also flagged a $1B Daybreak subsidy for frontline defenders.

Thin elsewhere since this morning. NVIDIA–Hugging Face was last night.
